Our Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) was in the Philippines for a official working visit prior to returning to Malaysia yesterday (March 2).

During his trip, he delivered a general lecture titled ’30 Years After The Asian Renaissance: Strategic Takeaways for ASEAN’ at the University of the Philippines.

And while there, the educational institute also awarded DSAI with an honorary Doctorate in Law, as showcased by the University.

Degree 1

They wrote, “In a solemn and well-attended ceremony, the University of the Philippines conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, to Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. The ceremony of conferment was held in the morning of March 2, 2023, at the UP Theater in UP Diliman, Quezon City, during his official visit to the Philippines.”

They also had many amazing reasons why DSAI was awarded the honour

Degree 2

“PM Anwar was cited for his efforts in “nurturing the life of the mind and fostering intellectual discourse” in Malaysia and in the ASEAN region; his advocacy of the concept of an Asian Renaissance; his devoted study of the life, works and teachings of Dr. Jose Rizal; and his unstinting commitment to the pursuit of justice and democratic ideals and the attainment of a more inclusive, pluralistic Malaysia, among others.”

“Fittingly, he delivered a lecture on ’30 Years of “Asian Renaissance”: Strategic Takeaways for ASEAN’ after being conferred the honorary degree”, they added.

Degree 4

The event was attended by government officials, representatives of the Philippine public higher education sector, members of the diplomatic corps, and officials, faculty, students and staff of the University.

To say that DSAI deserves the honour is to say the least.
