In a sudden rise of drunk driving incidents to have been reported in Malaysia, it would appear that at least one of the incidents will be served with due justice. Just last week, reports emerged of a 42-year-old man who was found to have been driving against traffic while under the influence of alcohol, before crashing head-on into an innocent driver and ending his life in Kuantan.

The accident, which had sparked much outrage among Malaysians, especially considering how it happened in the wake of Corporal Safwan Muhammad Ismail’s death in another separate drunk driving incident, has reached a fever pitch in our country. In fact, many are now calling for harsher laws to be imposed upon those who cause the death of other motorists due to drunk driving.

Well in an update from the courthouse currently presiding over the case of the 42-year-old drunk driver who drove against traffic, it has been revealed by Sin Chew Daily and China Press that the driver will be charged under Section 302 of the Malaysian Penal Code for murder.

If found guilty, those accused will be punishable by death. However, the 42-year-old who works as a fish wholesaler, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial is currently being postponed until further notice while the court awaits pending reports to be completed.

The drunk driver in question will not be granted bail due to the severity of the crime.
