The rise of technology has led to an increase in Forex traders who often take to social media to share their luxurious lifestyles and prestigious purchases, despite calls by Muslim authorities that it is against the religion.
Recently, another local Forex trader faced criticism from Malaysians who accused him of lying and faking his luxurious lifestyle.
The Forex trader who regularly posts videos of his lifestyle on his TikTok recently shared a video of, ‘A Day in My Life’ which has been making waves on social media platforms.
In the video, the TikToker brought his followers along on what he does daily.
He starts his day trading at 9am, goes out for a fancy lunch at noon, shopping at 1pm, resumes work at 2pm, chills with his friends at 4pm, works out at 6pm, hosts online classes at 8pm and has dinner while watching Netflix at 10pm.
Called out for lying
The video has a lot of attention as netizens shared their thoughts on his daily routine. A certified financial planner took to Twitter to call him a liar.
“If you are a real forex trader, at 4pm, would you only start trading because that’s when the UK market opens? 8pm is when the US market opens, and 10pm is when the market is at its highest volume,” they wrote.
“That’s the best time to trade, (but according to him) it’s for Netflix and dinner (instead).”
“Another thing is that at 9am, it is is only for the Japanese and Australian markets. The volume isn’t that high unless there’s major news,” they explained.
“Don’t be fooled by showings of wealth on social media,” they advised other users.
The financial planner’s views were echoed by others who know a thing or two about forex trading. One user backed up their points and said, “Lying that they start trading at 9am. Which market is he looking at? My friend starts in the evening till night.”
Another user commented, “8pm online class, 10pm Netflix & dinner? What trading is he taking part in. The 8-11pm market is the best. High volume.”
Meanwhile, some users pointed out that how he makes his money is actually through his forex trading courses and not via trading itself.
“Income (coming) from classes and not trading.”
“The easiest way to make money is to tell people how to make money,” commented another user.
What do you think about it? Is it all for show?
