If you are an active Internet user, you have probably seen this meme.
The Spotify Playlist Messages are an online social trend in which a person arranges songs in a playlist on Spotify so that when the titles of the songs are read in order, they form a message.
The first of these messages came from a girl who arranged songs in a Spotify playlist to tell a boy she was no longer interested in seeing him.
When her playlist, shared on Twitter, grew popular in mid-April 2017, others began uploading variations of the joke.
Although five years late, DHL Express recently shared its variation of the trend, and it has since captured the hearts of Malaysian netizens.
The playlist, titled “If a Conversation with Abang Courier is a Spotify Playlist”, makes fun of a typical phone call conversation with a delivery man in Malaysia.
“Hello, is this Aisyah? This is me, Abang DHL here. Your parcel has arrived. Is anybody home?”
While simple, netizens were delighted by the clever and ultra-relatable message.
This is because it reminded many Malaysians of their experience with online shopping during the last two years of quarantine and MCOs.
A seemingly mundane act of delivering and receiving parcels that we have never cared to pay attention to has turned into something more fun.
Netizens expressed their love for DHL’s creative Spotify playlist
Here are some of the funny responses from netizens that we have gathered.
“Yes, this is Aisyah, and I’m home. Let me put on my headscarf. I will be right there,” said a user.
“It seems like DHL knows that people named Aisyah love shopping,” said another.
Maybe other companies should take a page out of DHL’s book and create their own versions of the meme!
