While scanning your MySejahtera app wherever you go has become the new norm, concerns about our data security and what the app might do to jeopardise that is something that can’t be avoided.
But amidst these safety concerns and allegations, Senior Minister of Defense Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob cleared up any existing concerns and assured the public that the MySejahtera app is secure and protected under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 in a press conference yesterday.
“MySejahtera data is fully owned by the Health Ministry (MOH) and regulated by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), the National Security Council (MKN).
“To me, there should not be any concern about using [the My Sejahtera app] because the government controls and ensures that the data is protected,” he said.
He was commenting on concerns and allegations that data used on the app could easily be abused by unauthorised parties.
In other news, Ismail Sabri also suggests reopening of public libraries, especially to help students prepare for exams and gain internet access, despite libraries operating in Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) areas being classified as prohibited indoor activities.
“Public libraries involve many ministries; I will discuss this matter with the ministries involved, MKN and of course MOH, whose advice will be sought,” he added.
