The decomposing bodies of a 4o-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter were found inside the bedroom of a condominium unit in Penang yesterday (June 30).

The pair was believed to have been dead for more than a week, and the neighbours lodged a police report after noticing a stench coming from the unit.

Timur Laut District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, said the police received a report from the public about the matter yesterday at 4:41 pm. After the firefighters broke down the door, they found the decomposing bodies inside the bedroom. According to Sin Chew and Berita Harian, police also found medications for stress.

Neighbours thought the house was vacant

According to the neighbours, they thought the victim and her daughter had moved out of the unit because they did not hear any sound or see them. One of the neighbours was also told that the victim planned to auction the unit.

“I saw her moving her belongings out, and she told me she was going to move to Seberang Perai. I’ve never seen her again after that.”

In the meantime, the victim’s sister, Nor, said that she last saw her sister in May this year when she was asked by the police in Seremban to bring her sister home. Nor said her sister was divorced and unemployed, and was staying with her daughter the whole time.

The bodies were sent to the forensic department in Hospital Pulau Pinang for autopsy, and the police classified the case as sudden death (SDR), reported Harian Metro.
