Robbers are getting bolder these days, striking even in broad daylight. With crime happening anytime, anywhere, it’s hard to predict danger, no matter where you are.

A recent viral video shared by Sukan Star TV shows dashcam footage of a driver being ambushed by a group of men at a traffic light intersection near Ladang Emerald National School in Seksyen 33, Shah Alam.

He was robbed at the traffic light intersection

In a statement from the Shah Alam Police (IPD), a 54-year-old man reported that at 1:27 pm, he was driving alone at an intersection where the traffic light was malfunctioning.

While he was stopped at the red light, 2 men on a motorbike pulled up next to his car while another car came from behind and blocked his way by stopping in front of him.

One of the men on the motorbike broke the car window with an axe and grabbed the keys to stop the victim from driving away. Meanwhile, another man from the obstructing car opened the front passenger door and stole a bag of cash.

The robbers stole RM200,000 in company cash

Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim reported that on July 22, 2024, at 2:41 pm, the Shah Alam IPD Police received a report from the victim himself. The victim mentioned that RM200,000 in company cash was stolen after he made a withdrawal from a nearby bank.

It turns out the registration number on the robbers’ car was fake, as it was registered to a different type of vehicle upon checking.

Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries from the incident. The police are actively investigating and pursuing all involved parties. The public is advised not to carry large amounts of cash to prevent such incidents.
