As we may all be aware, there are quite a lot of crocodiles in Sarawakian waters and just a few months ago, residents found a floating body of a 5.3 meters long crocodile.
In a similar instance, residents of a village in Sarawak recently caught a crocodile that weighs almost a ton near Lubuk Basong Sungai Matu.
The reptile measuring more than four metres is believed to have eaten bait on a trap set by a group of fishermen before its carcass was washed to Kampung Bertong jetty.
The leader of the Matu Chinese community, Kapitan Tan Yu Hock, said the crocodile catch was the largest in the Matu River so far.
“I understand that this animal was caught at 2:00 pm. Its body has been taken to Sibu,” he said when contacted by Suara Sarawak.
Accordingly, Jemoreng State Assembly Member, Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya when contacted advised residents to be careful and report to the authorities if they spot the animal.
“It’s best not to take action yourself because it’s too risky and dangerous,” he said.
