Taking to Twitter, @ctsarahaishah shared a story of how netizen Meera Ruslan braved through Stage 5 Covid-19 for 33 days which includes a trip to the ICU and being put to sleep for operation.
Here is her story.
“My story is not meant to spread fear among members of the public, but to increase awareness of how real Covid-19 is.”
“I was infected following a swab test that I took on 6th January 2021.”
“My horrific episode began when my oxygen levels went down, from a normal minimum of 95 to 86. Doctors informed me I had a blood clot in my lungs.”
“I did not realise how dire my situation was when I was wheeled into the ICU.”
“I didn’t realise that it was a life and death situation for me until the doctors insist that I call my mother. I only texted her saying that I was about to enter the operating theater via text to not worry her.”
“The last thing I remembered was being put to sleep and woke up on 28th January 2021.”
“Nurses would ask whether I realised where I was. I felt like a mental patient and the staff were really supportive during my time at the ICU.”
After 10 days, Meera was finally transferred to a normal ward, where she learned to be more independent as the staff there were overwhelmed with the large number of patients they had to care for.
“When doctors told me I was about to be discharged on 12th February 2021, I thanked the doctor that my 33 day ordeal had ended.”
“I can only thank everyone at the East Wing ICU Hospital Sungai Buloh for giving me another chance at life. Only God can repay all that you have done for me.”
Still think that the SOPs in place are there without a purpose? Is interstate travel truly more important than the safety of the ones you love?
Let’s continue our push, and do our part to ensure that many more out there do not have to go through what Meera had to in her journey to recover from Covid-19.
