A married couple in China had a rude awakening in a hotel room after they found a half-naked stranger standing in their room.

The husband, Sun, was awakened by his wife, who told him that there was an unknown man near the bed, who wore only a pair of black shorts.

The matter happened at a 4-star hotel at midnight on 28 October, and Sun was initially too stunned to speak before he called the front desk receptionist and the police.

When asked, the stranger didn’t answer who he was, but Sun eventually let the man go.

How did the half-naked man enter the room?

Sun admitted that he was afraid and worried about the presence of the stranger, who he thought could harbour ill intentions. However, he comforted his wife and decided to let him go, believing that the man “might be lost”.

The receptionist only answered the phone call five times later, and the management admitted that the door to the couple’s room was faulty, and that the stranger was a guest staying in the room next door.

The police, however, received a different story about the matter.

According to the case report from the local police station, the hotel front desk had made a mistake with the room keys, and the mix-up caused the man to go into the wrong room.

On the same night, Sun and his wife were offered to stay in a different room.

“My wife would ask me repeatedly if the door was locked before we went to bed in the new bedroom,” Sun told a Chinese media outlet.

What will you do if you wake up and find someone standing near your bed in your hotel room?
