In the recent years, a healthy workplace environment has been one of the reasons why employees would choose to stay in their current company. That being said, many employers have been striving to provide a healthy work environment for their employees.
Unfortunately for this Malaysian (let’s call him Joe), it seems like he is put in a difficult position. Just recently, this Malaysian man shared his working experience in a Facebook page stating,
“I’ve found a new job recently and I’ve just completed my 3 months in this new role. Unfortunately, it seems like the environment I’m working in is toxic. Due to the fact that I’ve got no prior experience for this job, during the second week of the job, I’ve been spoken to quite rudely.”
Joe explained that most of his colleagues would speak to him rudely and as time passes, Joe’s colleague even got other colleagues to speak to him rudely.
“I’ve also realised that he is quite biased because when other colleagues ask him about work related things, he would be patient and would slowly explain to them nicely”, he said.
“My other colleagues including him has bad mouthed about me to my team lead and my team lead is aware that I’m being bullied”, he continued.
Unfortunately, Joe’s team lead didn’t help him as the team lead is close with Joe’s colleagues and didn’t want to sabotage the relationship the team lead has with them.
Joe added that he is hardworking and is constantly trying his best to catch up, so he doesn’t have to trouble his colleagues, but it seems like he is experiencing burn out. He then ended his post by asking netizens if he should quit his job as this is after all a new job.
Many netizens emphatised with his situation and here’s what some of them said:
“There’s no point in staying in this company, unless they offer a really attractive salary.”
“The fact that you could stay there for 3 months is an achievement itself.”
“Just resign, what if you get depressed or suffer from anxiety because of your colleagues?”
Here’s a gentle reminder to always treat your colleagues with kindness because at the end of the day, everyone is just trying to make ends meet.
