Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour 2023 ended in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last night (22 November), and it was truly a night to remember.

Despite the heavy rainfall, the band not only amazed the massive crowd with their songs and their visuals, but front man Chris Martin also decided to bust out some Malay in the form of a poem that he sang!

Dododots Pimple Patches took to their TikTok page to showcase Chris Martin’s Malay poem-song, and also his heartfelt thank you to the Malaysian government for allowing Coldplay to perform in Malaysia.

Poem 1

Dododots Pimple Patches wrote, “The most wholesome thing ever. Coldplay’s first Malaysian pantun (poem).”

In the video, Chris Martin could be seen thanking the crowd for attending their concert despite the weather and traffic, as well as the Malaysian government for allowing them to share their music live in Malaysia.

“Thank you for waiting 27 years for us to come to your country. Thank you to the government for letting play here. Thank you to everyone sitting in the stands on the left, and on the floor and (inaudible), and all the way at the back, we see you.”

“And we’re going to try and sing a ‘pantun‘. I’m going to try and sing my first, Malaysian ‘pantun‘,” Chris said as the crowd cheered.

Poem 3

Here’s Coldplay’s pantun

Pergi kedai, membeli sayur, (Gone to the shop to buy vegetables)
Masak tomyam, pesan bonda, (Mum says to make tomyam)
Coldplay sekarang di Kuala Lumpur, (Coldplay is now in Kuala Lumpur)
Payung lagu favourite anda. (Treating you to your favourite songs)

That was honestly a masterpiece.
