Negeri Sembilan state government recently introduced a new law for dog owners – neutering their dogs before applying for ownership licenses.

There’s no need to neuter your dogs in Selangor but in Klang, residents in condominiums and flats are not allowed to keep their dogs in the building, according to one of the conditions in applying for dog ownership licenses as stated on its website. Just recently, on its Facebook post, the Klang City Council (MPK) revealed that they have been active in making sure dog owners don’t keep their pets in multi-storey buildings.

And the officers do that by going door to door.

An operation was recently launched at the Pelangi Heights Condominium in Klang and throughout the operation, a total of 10 compounds were issued to owners who violated the rules by keeping the dogs in their units. The city council officers also reminded others that the operations will be carried out from time to time in different condominiums and flats to ensure that no one keeps their dogs in the building.

“If you want to have a dog, please apply for dog ownership license,” MPK reminded the public.

MPK’s operation to “hunt” for illegally kept dogs has garnered mixed reactions online, with some people praising them for doing their jobs. Some netizens, on the other hand, were not happy that MPK officers took action only on dog owners.

“I foresee more dogs getting abandoned.”

“What about those people with cats?”

“I don’t see these officers making a fuss about people with cats.”

“That’s good. Those people should be punished.”

“Will I get punished for keeping pet fish?”

“That’s the rule in condominiums, anyway. Some management was just being lenient. If no one complains about it, the officers wouldn’t be there.”

“Well, they shouldn’t have kept the dogs in the unit in the first place.”

If you happen to keep your dogs in your unit at the condo, it’s best to do what’s necessary before the officers come knocking. In the meantime, do you agree that the city council officers are taking action against the owners who violated the rules?
