Although the panda cubs Yi Yi and Sheng Yi brought a lot of joy to the Zoo Negara workers and the zoo’s visitors, however, news that they were to return to China on August 29 had upset a lot of Malaysians.
Despite the sad news, it seems that Zoo Negara’s care and treatment towards the baby pandas have been commended as, according to local newspaper Sin Chew Daily, the Chinese government has commended our local zoo as one of the best giant panda caregivers.
Zoo Negara vice president Rosly@Rahmat Ahmat Lana shared that under their care, the giant panda couple Xing Xing and Liang Liang managed to give birth to 3 panda cubs quickly.
“Every year, giant panda experts from China would head over to the zoo to evaluate the living conditions and observe how we care and feed the pandas,” he said.
The zoo has also allocated 5 employees to take care of them, providing them with nutritious food and drawing their blood every month to ensure that they’re in good health.
We hope that the pandas get back to China safely!
