The offsprings of Giant Pandas Xing Xing and Liang Liang who celebrated their 17th birthday recently, Yi Yi was born on 14 January 2018, while Sheng Yi was born three years later on 30 May 2021.

In lieu of the 2 Panda cubs’ departure, Zoo Negara recently shared a touching farewell to the fluffy duo, reminiscing the time that they spent at the national zoo.

In a Facebook post, Zoo Negara asserted,

“As the sun cast a melancholic golden hue over the lush greenery of Zoo Negara, a sombre atmosphere filled the air for it was time for our beloved Giant Pandas; Yi Yi and Sheng Yi to bid a solemn farewell and return to their home in China.”

The post added that the duo’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and that their playful antics, gentle roars and endearing presence have seamlessly woven themselves into the very fabric of Zoo Negara’s identity.

Moreover, Yi Yi and Sheng Yi’s departure evokes a profound sense of loss as their playful pawprints, once imprinted on the grounds of the zoo, now serve as a poignant reminder of the laughter and happiness they had shared with visitors from all corners of the world.

Saying that the duo’s legacy would live on, Zoo Negara then stresses the importance of conservation and the profound connection that exists between humans and animals.

The post then ends with a thank you to both Panda cubs,

“We bid farewell to these extraordinary pandas; we hold onto the memories, the laughter and the love they brought, forever grateful for the time we had with them. Thank You Yi Yi & Sheng Yi.”
