The Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) has confirmed that a child was electrocuted at the food truck location near Drawbridge Square due to a damaged electrical cable that was touching a street lamp pole.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the Kuala Terengganu Mayor, Datuk Jusman Ibrahim, received a complaint in regards to the incident via the MBKT e-complaint system at 11:18pm on Wednesday (June 4).
He explained that the MBKT Electrical Division went to the scene of the incident on Thursday (June 5) morning to investigate and take immediate action.

“The results of the inspection found that the damaged cable touched the street light pole numbered FP 2 B1-21, which caused the shock,” he said.
The MBKT technical team then carried out immediate repair work, which included re-insulating the cable using heat shrink insulation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“A thorough inspection of the surrounding area is also being carried out in stages to identify other cables at risk so that they can be repaired immediately,” he added.
MBKT calls on the public to be vigilant and report such damages through official channels
“We will also not compromise on public safety and will continue to strive to ensure that recreational areas and public facilities are in safe conditions.”
Datuk Jusman Ibrahim also shared his sympathy for the child who was electrocuted and wished them a speedy recovery. The child is currently receiving treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ).
