Rice is the Asian staple and whenever there is rice, there will be soy sauce. In all of our cooking, we always put in a few drops of soy sauce because it just makes everything taste much better! Few drops of this magic essence on a telur mata kerbau above a hot pillow of rice is life-changing. There are so many soy sauce brands in Malaysia but one of the more OG ones is Cap Kipas Udang.

However, according to Bernama, the founder of Cap Kipas Udang has passed away yesterday (12th May) morning at 9.15am. Datuk Lambak Mohamed passed on at the age of 100 in his home in Larkin Jaya, Johor. He was then laid to rest the same afternoon at Tanah Perkuburan Kebun Teh.

His granddaughter Amiza Abdul Aziz told Bernama,

“He hadn’t any medical problems and was enjoying good health.”

The late Datuk Lambak Mohamed is survived by his wife Datin Rogayah Jusoh, 94, and 12 other children. Other than that, his sauce recipes and his business continue on his legacy.

His products which are recognised internationally have been distributed by Zara Foodstuff Industries Sdn Bhd since 1987. The brand’s sauces especially the Habhal’s line including their kaya are well-loved by Malaysians of all ages. So well-loved that their products are used as door gifts.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the centenarian’s family, may he rest in peace.
