Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a much awaited holiday for all Malaysians (and especially burglars)!
The fact that those on balik kampung would leave their homes empty for weeks on end, allowing burglars to do some ‘Raya shopping’ of their own.
One victim shared their experience witnessing their own home becoming a victim of a break in whilst they were away for their Raya holiday on Facebook.
Here are some of the photos of the ransacking.
But the thieves did not stop there. The victims also found this:
Apparently hungry from all the ransacking, they stopped for snacks — munching on cumi-cumi (packet jelly) and leaving scraps on the homeowner’s sofa.
The burglars must have thought that they were obliged to snack since it was Hari Raya.
“The suspect even had time to much on cumi-cumi. The incident took place at 9/2 Taman Sri Gombak.”
This must be a case for the Malaysian CSI and forensics to solve. I mean, DNA can be extracted from the cumi-cumi discards right?
As funny as it sounds, becoming a victim of burglars is no laughing matter.
In the original post on Facebook page Taman Sri Gombak, the community living in Fasa 9 of Taman Sri Gombak have long been victims of burglars.
One netizen commented, “I was also a victim of burglary. I made a police report but nothing happened. It took place in Fasa 9. I can only hope and pray that when the burglars made a run for it, they were skewered by the gate. This took place three years ago.”
One netizen hypothesized that the burglar could be the same one that ransacked other locations.
“The burglars used the back door. I think that these were the same burglars that ransacked other houses at 9/24 and 9/22.”
The post, however, did not divulge the actions taken by the homeowners to capture the culprits responsible.
We hope that homeowners in the area will be extra cautious especially during festivities to ensure that incidents like this do not repeat itself in the future. PDRM should play an important role and not leave the responsibility of safeguarding housing areas only at the hands of civilians.
