Smokers will need to spend more soon!
During the tabling of the Budget 2026 today (10 October), Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that to reduce the prevalence of smokers in Malaysia, excise duties on tobacco products will be increased, effective 1 November 2025.

Prices of tobacco products to be increased
Here’s what you should know.

Cigarettes will increase by 2 sen per stick.

Cigars, cheroots, and cigarillos will increase by RM40 per kilogram.

Heated tobacco products will increase by RM20 per kilogram of tobacco content.
At the same time, the Government will extend the exemption period for import duty and sales tax on nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products, and this will be expanded to include nicotine mist and nicotine lozenges until 31 December 2027.
