After accepting Tun Mahathir’s resignation, YDP Agong has also appointed Tun Mahathir as Malaysia’s interim Prime Minister in accordance to Article 43 (2)(a) of the Federal Constitution, which states that the appointment of the Prime Minister is a discretionary function of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

However, it is currently unclear as to what members the caretaker government will consist of, as the Attorney General’s Chambers has yet to release a statement on the matter.

As this is a developing story, more details will be updated as soon as they are available to press.
