When it comes to exercising, most Malaysians can agree that the outdoors is the best place to keep yourself in shape. You can enjoy more sights and sounds, and get some vitamin D from all the sunshine! But let’s face it: constantly going to the usual spots around your neighbourhood can get quite repetitive after some time.

So to help you stay excited for your next outdoor exercise session, we’ve compiled a list of unexpectedly spectacular locations around Klang Valley with breathtaking views that Malaysians can exercise in!

1. Taman Saujana Hijau, Putrajaya

While you’ll definitely be spoiled for choice if you’re looking for green sceneries in Putrajaya, one park there that definitely stands above all the others is Taman Saujana Hijau! Located in Presint 11, this park is mesmerisingly landscaped with pine trees, exotic flowers and rustic fencing over its 47 hectares of land.

One section of the park that is perfect to exercise in would definitely be the European Garden. The European-style pavilion is an ideal trail for cyclists and joggers, plus the garden has a hill that provides the best view of Putrajaya’s landscape. Plus, admission is FREE! Not a bad place to get your workout in, kan?

Operating hours: 7am-7pm (daily)

2. Saloma Bridge, Kuala Lumpur

If you’re more of an urban jogger and/or prefer to be surrounded by city lights during your workout then consider doing your exercise at the Saloma Bridge area in KL! Named after the legendary Malaysian singer and actress, the Saloma Bridge is the most exquisite pedestrian walkway built in Kuala Lumpur!

In addition to being an eye-catching spot for your Instagram feed, this 69-metre-long bridge is also a perfect place to exercise around and across while enjoying the lights and design of the bridge at night! So if you fancy exercising while being basked in neon lights then this is the place for you!

Operating hours: 5am-1am (Monday-Saturday), 5am-12.30am (Sunday)

3. Batu Caves, Selangor

Another unlikely place is one of Malaysia’s most important religious landmarks: Batu Caves! You can definitely add to your daily 10,000 steps here while sightseeing on temple grounds. Bear in mind that this is a temple, so do be respectful of those who’re there to pray and dress appropriately!

Alternatively, if you want to really work up a sweat and go for a much more daring exercise, you can go rock climbing there, too! Surprised? Well, Gua Damai Extreme Park (which is located right behind the Batu Caves hill) is the perfect place for guided rock climbing and abseiling. So if it’s an easygoing stroll around the temple or an extreme challenge for your vertical limit that you’re looking for, the Batu Caves area is the perfect spot for you!

Operating hours: 7am-9pm (daily)

4. Ardence Labs @ Eco Ardence, Selangor

The lakefront area boasts its own trek for visitors to jog or walk on. In addition, they also have a bike rental place near their eateries if you’re looking to get a light scenic exercise around the park!

Another unique thing about Ardence Labs is their urban pets hotel called Cocomomo. Here, you can have your pets groomed, buy pet supplies, and even have someone babysit your furry partner for you while you finish your workout! So if you want to stay in shape AND take your pet somewhere nice, then this lakefront haven on the outskirts of Klang Valley is just the place for you!
