Malaysia was rocked by a shocking incident recently, whereby a gas pipeline exploded in Putra Heights, Selangor, causing hundreds to become injured and displaced.
However, it seems that some irresponsible quarters didn’t heed any lesson from the incident, as the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) today revealed that there was an open burning of garbage waste near a gas pipeline in Taman Bukit Sendayan, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
JBPM Seremban 2 puts out open burning of garbage waste near a gas pipeline in Taman Bukit Sendayan

Taking to its Facebook page, the JBPM Seremban 2 station revealed that a squad was dispatched at 8.30am today after receiving a report about an open burning of garbage waste at the location.

As soon as they arrived at the location, the JBPM personnel found an open burning approximately 200 square feet in size and immediately extinguished the fire. The whole operation took under 2 hours and was completed at 10.14am.

JBPM Seremban 2 attached several photos of the operation, including a couple of photos which show a signboard warning people that the location is near a medium-pressure gas pipeline.

Moreover, the sign clearly warned people not to throw or burn any rubbish or do any construction or excavation work around the area.

JBPM Seremban 2 Operation Chief Mohd Nizam Yom was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that while he can’t corroborate whether there is a gas pipeline near the fire location, he can confirm that the warning signboard was there.
