A video of a car in SS14 Subang Jaya set on fire by criminals rampant in the area recently went viral on social media.
The footage, which was shared by Facebook page SJ Echo, saw a white Myvi driver driving up to a similar white Myvi, breaking the driver and passenger side window, before setting the car ablaze.
Here is the video of the incident.
SJ Echo‘s Facebook status accompanying the video writes, “A car parked in the neighborhood of SS14 Subang Jaya was nearly set ablaze by a suspect who had broken into the car to steal its road tax and subsequently the vehicles’ number plates.
Having captured the whole incident on CCTV, the car was managed to be salvaged after the car alarm went off and notified the owner.
“The suspect was captured on CCTV driving up to the car. After he had executed his misdeeds, he allegedly set the car seat of the victim’s car on fire before casually driving off.”
“The owner of the vehicle was alerted presumably by the car alarm. Luckily for him, the fire was quickly put out before it could engulf the vehicle.”
The video which has garnered more than 7k views became a cause for concern especially among the folks living in Subang Jaya.
One netizen commented that the suspect was on the lookout for similar-looking cars, like the one he is driving, and was trying to make off with the victim’s road tax and registration plates.
Whoa! So our guess is owners with common-looking cars need to be extra vigilant especially when they park their cars at night!
Another raised concerns saying that Subang Jaya was not as safe as it used to be, which most commenting on the video seem to agree.
We hope that people in Subang Jaya and everywhere else practice constant vigilance especially when it comes to parking and leaving their cars for the night.
For now, let’s see what the authorities will do to ensure the safety of neighborhoods in Malaysia.
