Apple just launched its new Apple Intelligence 2 days ago, boosting user experiences with better writing tools, photo editing, and more.
Forbes reported that Apple is putting up a $1 million (approximately RM4,369,376) bug bounty for anyone able to hack into the secure cloud platform behind its upcoming Apple Intelligence features launching next week.
Apple is set to release iOS 18.1 next week!
Apple Intelligence is set to launch on iPhones next week with the release of iOS 18.1, marking the first major upgrade to include AI features like enhanced Siri capabilities.
On October 24, Apple opened up resources to encourage security and privacy researchers, or anyone with technical curiosity, to search for vulnerabilities in their platform.
“Our goal is to let people learn more about Private Cloud Compute (PCC) and independently verify our claims.”
“The most advanced architecture ever”
This iPhone update is expected to bring a more secure and private AI experience compared to other options, as Apple processes as much data as possible directly on the device.
Apple’s PCC, built on custom Apple silicon and a privacy-focused, hardened operating system, handles more complex requests on Apple’s own servers. They also described PCC as:
“The most advanced security architecture ever deployed for cloud AI at scale.”
After announcing Apple Intelligence and PCC, they gave third-party auditors and selected security researchers early access to the PCC Virtual Research Environment, a resource they’ve set up to support in-depth inspections.
If you think you’re ready for the challenge, submit your research here through the Apple Security Bounty program.
