Seriously, we need more ministers like Anthony Loke!
This morning, Bukit Jalil LRT Station received a surprise visit from Transport Minister, Anthony Loke. Apparently, he was there to experience himself what it feels like to take the LRT to work during peak hours and to conduct a spot check simultaneously.
He also announced on Facebook saying that he would be taking the LRT from Bukit Jalil to Damai station to work. He even went live once he reached the station with over 700 real-time viewers!
On the train, two passengers identified Loke and he took this opportunity to get feedback from them. One of the passengers brought up the issue of the LRT having connection problems last week (September 2018) and Anthony said, “Yeah, that’s why I’m doing the spot check today.”
He also confirmed that the monthly pass for commuters will be launched in the near future, which could save quite a lot of money for those who travel by public transportation every day.Netizens were surprised by his willingness to take the time and effort to feel how is it like to be standing in an overcrowded cabin. There were also some who urged him to take the monorail, KTM or RapidKL bus as those were the real ‘challenges’. All in all, most of the netizens were happy with his appearance and his strategy in cleaning the Road Transport Department.
A minister taking the train during peak hours without bodyguards or police escorts is a rare sight in Malaysia. Kipidap Anthony!
