As a customer, we always have the right to make changes or additional requests for our food order. However, to think from the restaurateur’s perspective, how do we entertain customers when the requests are seemingly impossible?
Recently, KIM KEE Noodles in Bandar Sri Damansara, PJ shared an image of a takeaway order that they received via a food delivery platform application. The customer ordered a portion of thick Chili Pan Mee, a simple but NOT straightforward order. The customer has a list of difficult requests for a bowl of noodles that’ll cost him RM13.30.
Here’s what the customer requested.
- Thin noodles. You guys make handmade noodles, so it shouldn’t be an issue.
- Soft noodles. I want it to flow out of my mouth.
- Extra dried shrimp in the dried shrimp chilli.
- Deseed the chillis.
- An egg with 2 yolks. If unavailable, then 2 eggs, please.
- Extra minced meat. My dad loves it.
- Separate the anchovies to retain their crispiness. Or else I’ll complain.
- Can I get 2 extra deep-fried wantons for my continuous support?
- Can I try your new dumplings? You need a customer’s feedback.
- Pour the soup into the plastic bag when it’s not hot. I heard plastic bags are not good for hot liquid.
- If I get food poisoning from the soup I’ll sue you.
- Extra sliced meat, please. My dad loves them too.
You might wonder if the restaurant operators actually accepted and proceeded to prepare the order. In the comment section, KIM KEE Noodles revealed that they actually declined the order.
“We’re smart. We cancelled his order.”
In the meantime, netizens also think that the customer spent too much time on a portion of noodles that costs him around RM13.
“That’s a lengthy essay for an RM10 noodle.”
“Is he serious? Noodles flowing out of his mouth, deseed the chilli? Did he pay RM10K for the noodles?”
“It’s only RM10 but he’s asking for too much.”
Have you ever made such requests while placing your orders? Do you think this is simply a prank or what the customer truly expected?
