It’s always fascinating to know what others, particularly foreigners think about the food in Malaysia. While McDonald’s is available everywhere worldwide, American YouTubers, Cindy & Eddie, who recently visited Malaysia decided to compare the McD’s in Malaysia to the ones in the USA.
Differences in the menu are expected, and the couple are surprised to find that our McD’s serve rice. Not only that but they admitted that the chickens are served differently.
“I’ve never seen chickens served in a bucket elsewhere,” Eddie said.
The couple then continued browsing the menu at one of the ordering kiosks, before they ordered a few burgers (which they called sandwiches). Here’s what they got for themselves.
- Beef prosperity burger
- Cheeseburger
- Spicy Chicken McDeluxe
- A small pack of fries
“It’s always nice that the machine always gives you option to add other things,” Eddie said.
The couple visited Malaysia’s very first outlet of McD’s in Bukit Bintang, KL during lunch hour and the place was crowded. After exploring the coffee area and receiving their orders, they went upstairs to get a seat, and this was where the comparison began.
They started out with the cheeseburger, which they said, “smelled and tasted like a regular cheeseburger, which did not disappoint.”
Then, they continued with the fries, which to their surprise, are very low in salt.
“It tastes slightly different. Maybe they’re using a different oil, but you still taste the McDonald’s quality in it,” Eddie said.
Next, the Spicy Chicken McDeluxe. As for Cindy, the spiciness wasn’t really on point for her, but Eddie said that he could feel the “kick” which is delicious.
“Just about the same amount of spiciness that you would get in regular McDonald’s in America.”
Last but not least, the couple tried the Beef Prosperity Burger, a seasonal item that according to them, is not available in the US. Before taking a bite, Eddie said that it “smells like a spicy barbeque sauce”.
Cindy took the first bite, and she immediately fell in love with the prosperity burger.
“It’s so good. It’s peppery, I didn’t expect that.”
As for Eddie, he had nothing but good words to say about the prosperity burger.
“Interesting. It’s like a McDonald’s burger but they put peppery steak sauce in it. It’s really good. Very delicious.”
The couple agreed that the McD’s in Malaysia tastes generally the same as the one in America, but also excitedly suggested the Beef Prosperity Burger to any foreigners who cannot purchase the items in their country.
Eddie revealed that the prosperity burger is available in other Asian countries such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. You can watch the full video below.
It sounds like the fast food chain in our country is on par with the ones in America! Fellow Malaysians, if you have visited McD’s in other countries, what do you think of them?
