Gula Apong Ice Cream is probably one of the favourites of many Malaysians, especially those who are into cold desserts. It’s available in many places, but not all places serve a good portion of the dessert. However, if you’re a fan of ice cream, then you probably share the same taste buds with a Korean actor.

Yoo Seung Ho visited Kuching, Sarawak to film an episode of the reality show – Off The Grid, which shows him strolling around the town while taking pictures of the sky and the city. After exploring the city, Yoo took a break but the heat made him crave something cold, something sweet.

He then visited a small, white stall that serves cold drinks and desserts.

“Hello. I want Gula Apong Ice Cream, small size,” Yoo placed his order at the counter.

Yoo then admitted that he has never been a fan of sweet food, but the weather had made him desperate for a cold dessert.

It didn’t take long for Yoo to get his ice cream, which was generously drizzled with ground nuts and syrup made with palm sugar that grows abundantly in Sarawak. He took two bites of the desserts and he was immediately a fan.

“Mmm… this is so good.”

Other than the ice cream, the episode has also allowed Yoo to rediscover his passion for photography, and we can really see that through the countless pictures that he had taken in the video as he couldn’t stop taking pictures.

You can watch the video below.

In the comment sections, some Malaysians have taken the opportunity to express their gratitude towards the South Korean actor for visiting the country and trying the local food. Some have also praised Yoo for his photography skills.

Fellow Sarawakians, what are the other dishes or desserts that you would like to introduce to the foreigners if you have the chance?
