As Malaysians, we rarely say no to Nasi Lemak, but would we say yes to this iconic local dish all day, every day?

Lucky for one Malaysian man, his hunger is always satisfied thanks to his loving wife, who does all the cooking. However, little did she know, her husband had been secretly wishing for something else on the menu.

According to him, he is hoping for anything but Nasi Lemak.

In a viral Reddit post where the man confessed his food dilemma, he explained that the dish has always been his wife’s comfort food. Put simply, Nasi Lemak comes to the rescue whenever she is unsure what to prepare, ensuring the couple never goes hungry.

But how do you enjoy the same food every day? The man admitted he is “going crazy!”

He wrote that the “Nasi Lemak festival” didn’t bother him at first; however, he later confessed that being served the same meal every two to three days has become exhausting.

“At first, I didn’t mind. I mean, who doesn’t like Nasi Lemak? But after eating it so often, I’ve honestly started to get sick of it.”

He knows exactly what he wants, and it isn’t much: simple dishes like soup, noodles, or even Western food would do. Although he recognises the issue, he struggles to find a solution, as he is uncertain how to communicate his wishes without sounding rude.

“I feel bad complaining because she cooks with love. I don’t want to hurt her feelings or seem ungrateful, but eating the same thing so often is slowly driving me crazy.”

By holding back his feelings, he may be allowing resentment to build, as this seemingly small matter has begun to bother him more than expected. The man also revealed that he has not been honest with his wife about his preferences because he wants to avoid conflict.

Gentlemen, what do your wives cook at home? Have you ever grown tired of eating the same food over and over again?
