A Malay-owned Claypot chicken rice stall in Sri Petaling, KL, went viral last year for allegedly using non-Halal ingredients. The owner, Ahmad Muzakin has since denied all allegations.
JAKIM also confirmed in a Facebook post that they have never issued a halal certificate to the stall. The business, however, recently circulated again on social media after it was promoted by a TikTok page @ezlokal.food, which caused many concerns among Muslim consumers.
In one of its recent videos, the owner’s wife clarified once again that they have always used halal ingredients.
However, she also emphasised that her stall does NOT have the halal certificate.
“We don’t have Halal certificate, but we always use halal ingredients.”
The woman also showed the interviewer an image of alleged JAKIM officers who had previously visited the stall and observed the food preparations.
“If I really committed sins, Allah would know,” she said.
In addition to the viral claypot chicken rice, the place also serves claypot duck and lamb rice, which are based on her curated recipes.
The business previously went viral for allegedly using rice wine in its cooking, which the owner himself debunked. Ahmad also said that he is obtaining a halal certificate for his business.
