The state’s water utility company – Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) will be taking action against users who are still skipping the payment.
In a Facebook post, Air Kelantan demanded over 7,000 users in the state to settle their outstanding water bills, which amounted to RM4.6 million.
The amount of the outstanding water bills has led to a stern warning from AKSB that legal action would be taken against those who continue to fail to pay.
“Users involved will need to settle their outstanding bills by October 15, especially for those whose water supply have been cut.”
What will happen if the users don’t pay their bills?
“The list of names and account numbers of those users will be handed over to AKSB’s lawyers for further legal action,” AKSB said in another statement.
In a statistical breakdown, in 2022, a total of 3,316 water accounts have been cut with the amount of outstanding debt reaching RM2.379 million.
Meanwhile, in 2023, the total arrears increased to RM2.196 million, involving 3,954 accounts that have yet to settle their water bills.
“AKSB is intensifying efforts to recover debts amounting to RM4.5 million from the consumers involved. Water cuts will be enforced against user accounts that have arrears of more than 3 months.”
To speed up the debt collection process, AKSB has appointed 4 licensed debt collection agents who will act to recover the arrears. AKSB also calls on users to be aware of the latest developments through their official communication channels such as the website www.airkelantan.com.my, the MyAKSB application, and Facebook.
If you don’t want to face water disruption, regardless of where you are, you know what to do!
