A Malaysian woman is currently being harassed by a loan shark, who apparently sent 20 delivery riders to her home in Shah Alam to collect money from her, on behalf of her domestic helper.
According to a report by China Press, the woman shared her belief that the loan shark was trying to use her maid to defraud her, as the maid had apparently borrowed money from the loan shark and had allegedly already repaid her debts.
The loan shark is still demanding payment

This all started on Wednesday (February 12), when the woman received a phone call at 5pm.
“I received a threatening call saying that my maid had borrowed money, but I had no idea about this. So, I told the other party to wait for me to confirm the matter before giving them a response. They threatened me that if I didn’t pay off RM4,580 before 6pm, they would call (delivery riders) to my house to collect the money,”
“After checking, my maid did borrow RM1,250 before but she had paid RM1,570 including interest, and she no longer owed money. I suspect that the other party is using the maid to ask the employer for money, so I stopped responding,” she explained.
The loan sharks demanded for the woman’s personal info from the maid
In a press conference organised by GERAKAN Selangor, the woman further shared how she was harassed and hopes the police will get involved.
She said that her maid, who is from the Philippines, had previously handed over the woman’s personal information at the request of the loan shark. This is so that they can threaten her with her address, her vehicles, as well as photos of herself and her family.
The loan shark allegedly also posted the woman’s information on Facebook and went on to send delivery riders to her doorstep to ask for the ‘debt’.

“The (loan shark) asked the delivery riders to send them photos of my home from every angle, and then kept threatening me with photos of my family, saying that if I didn’t pay the money back, they would use any means to get to my children and my family,”
“I am very scared and feel that my safety has been threatened, so I have reported this case,” she added.
The woman pointed out that, when she reported her case on Friday (February 14), the police listed the case as ‘no further action’ due to them being unable to find the caller. She then reported the case again on Saturday (February 15), as she continued to receive threatening calls from different numbers.
She also sent her maid back to her home country on Friday (February 15).
It turns out that the woman isn’t the only one affected
There have been 3 similar cases in the same neighbourhood, leading to the belief that the loan shark’s group is targeting maids who go to the same church and are instigating them into borrowing money to invest in money games.
This also leads to the maids implicating their employers.
GERAKAN Selangor shared that they will write to the Shah Alam District Police Chief to request that his party look into this matter and take action. They also urged the public to pay attention to their maids.
