Being humble is an admirable trait especially if you’re a leader, which makes you so much more approachable.
Fortunately for us Malaysians, our King is often known for his humble personality, especially when he’s out mingling around with the people. Agong’s recent visit to Sabah has made headlines, and it’s mostly because of how Sabahans are so excited to be part of the King’s rare visit to the state. In a Facebook post by the National Palace, Malaysians find yet another reason to be proud of the King.
On the 10th day of Agong’s visit to Sabah and Sarawak for the Kembara Kenali Borneo, he decided to have his lunch with his sons but probably not in the way you expected. He could’ve dined like a King but instead, the King adapts like a King!
Agong stopped by the road on the Pan Borneo highway and like true Malaysians, the royal family had their lunch packs with their bare hands outside their car. During the day, the family was on their way from Sibu to Kuching for the closing ceremony of the Kembara Kenali Borneo, before having dinner with the Sarawak state government.
As always, the people continue to be impressed by our King, pointing out the rare humility that we get to see today.
“This is our King. Going out to the field like a regular citizen. Salute, Your Majesty.”
“This is truly the defining moment. When you’re traveling and chilling by the road for a meal, it’ll be remembered forever. Thank you, Agong for being willing to visit Borneo, especially Sarawak. It will be remembered.”
“It touched us to see you and the sons who are willing to come to our place. It would’ve been good if the state government prepared a bus motorhome as a shelter.”
“Looks like an R&R is yet to be available on the Pan Borneo highway. Hopefully, it’s at least in the planning.”
“It touched us to see the simplicity that the royal family displays. I wish them well and the family will always be in the heart of Sabahans and Sarawakians.”
We hope the King’s humility will inspire everyone out there and remind them that your background does not matter but your personality does.
