During this Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season, it is a tradition to visit each other’s homes, especially family and friends whom you haven’t seen in a while.

However, these neighbours in Kuala Lipis, Pahang had a rather unexpected guest during the recent festivities, which not only came uninvited but overstayed its welcome and refused to leave!

Monkey coming to ‘beraya’ at a residential area in Pahang

That is because the uninvited Hari Raya guest is a wild monkey which somehow ended up ‘lepaking‘ at the brick divider between the 2 houses at Bandar Baru Kuala Lipis.

The neighbours ended up calling the Kuala Lipis Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) who dispatched a team to ‘pujuk‘ or persuade the monkey to leave.

Going viral online, a video of the incident was shared by the Kuala Lipis JBPM station on its official Facebook page. As of the time of writing, the video has been viewed over 234,000 times and garnered over 3,100 reactions.

In the video, 3 Abang Bomba can be seen trying to persuade the monkey to leave but to no avail.

The monkey itself can be seen staying put at the divider between the 2 homes while largely ignoring the JBPM personnel.

1 of the Abang Bomba can be heard trying to ‘pujuk’ the monkey by saying, “Please go home. Please”.

The JBPM personnel then ended up laughing after the monkey simply ignored their words and gestures.

Afterwards, another Abang Bomba tried to persuade the monkey to leave by offering him a snack but he was also ignored.

The video then abruptly ended without showing the aftermath of the incident.

Malaysians are amused by the video

In the comments section, many Malaysians were amused by the whole situation, especially the monkey’s indifference against the 3 Abang Bomba.

One commenter joked that the monkey was just chilling there for a while and was sad that no one wants to ‘lepak’ together with it.

Meanwhile, another commenter jokingly asked where the monkey went to school as its teachers must be disappointed at how it ignored the pleas of the Abang Bomba.

Besides that, one Malaysian urged for JBPM personnel’s pay to be raised as they have to do a lot of jobs, including persuading monkeys to leave a residential area.
