Nga Kor Ming recently explained what “ham” meant following the ‘Halal’ ham & cheese sandwich issue blew up, much to the UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh’s rage, who told Nga to “keep his stupidity to himself.”

Nga never responded to that and there is a reason why.

The Minister of Housing and Local Government said he would not lower himself in arguing with Dr Akmal Saleh.

In a report by China Press, Nga said he doesn’t want to waste time responding to Akmal simply because both of them are not on the same level.

“From my point of view, a lion would never fight a fly.”

“DAP does not remain silent too. For every sentence Akmal says, DAP will respond with five sentences.”

Nga further explained why he prefers not to entertain Akmal, citing the level of both their positions at work.

“As a DAP Parliamentary leader, it is impossible for me to argue with a youth leader from UMNO. Wouldn’t that be degrading myself?”

In the meantime, he also said that if necessary, DAP would usually “deploy” another Youth member from DAP to respond to anyone from UMNO’s Youth division. Similarly, if it was the UMNO’s Chairman – Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, DAP’s Secretary-General, Anthony Loke would respond to the former.

Nga also clarified that since the forming of the unity government, UMNO has been behaving “moderately” and Zahid has not spoken nonsense.

“Zahid had mentioned at last year’s UMNO general assembly that he wanted to rebuild people’s confidence in moderate politics because UMNO had moved away from its past extremes.”

Nga said that the DAP and UMNO are allies and as long as it is good for the country and the people, the two parties will walk side by side.

“We stay away from people like Akmal. We look at the matter, not the person. If Akmal did something good, we would praise him too.”

What do you think of Nga’s take on this?
