Some 4 days after the SPM 2023 results announcement on Monday (27 May), Malaysians are still hotly debating the revelations brought forth by the latest national examination results.

Previously, we shared that 11,713 candidates impressively scored straight As in SPM 2023. However, this was marred by how 10,160 out of 383,685 candidates were absent during the exam, allegedly due to them being influenced by content creators who claimed they could become rich without education.

Besides that, the subject with the highest ‘A’ results percentage was revealed to be Pendidikan Al-Quran dan Al-Sunnah while the highest ‘Gagal’ results percentage was Matematik Tambahan.

In lieu of our nation’s school education being put under the spotlight, now another matter has caught the attention of Malaysians, which is the worrying trend of school students blaming their teachers for the students failing their studies.

In a Facebook post by Saifullah Kamanoordin, he revealed this trend is currently popping up on social media, with the students giving excuses as to why they’re lazy by blaming their teachers.

In the post, he shared several screenshots of social media postings by school students with captions being disrespectful of their educators, with 1 student even showing the middle finger and asserting,

“Day after day, I don’t feel like going to school, not because I’m lazy but because of my teacher.”

The 3 other screenshots echoed the same sentiment, saying that they’re not lazy but their teachers’ attitudes are what make them lazy to go to school.

In the caption, Saifullah claimed that it has become a trend among students to give excuses for being lazy by blaming teachers.

He added that these students even urged their parents to boycott school events celebrating top students as a protest.

He stressed,

“These are the attitudes of those who fail. They’ll blame others for their failures and not themselves.

“This is the generation that will one day shape and lead the country.”

Malaysians are appalled by these students’ attitudes

In the comments section, many Malaysians were appalled by this worrying trend and shared their 2 cents on the matter.

One commenter said he was very saddened by the students blaming their children, saying that our younger generation has lost the sense of respect.

Meanwhile, another commenter said that after failing SPM, these students will also fail to become good human beings in their lives with these kinds of attitudes.

Besides that, one netizen urged parents to play a more significant role in educating their children so that they could be more respectful of others, especially their teachers.
