Unlike some other countries, you can’t exactly leave your belongings unattended in public spaces in Malaysia, due to fear of it getting stolen.

But, when we say belongings, we meant phones, laptops and so forth. Never could we have thought that even food can get stolen in Malaysia.

Nasi Kandar Sulaiman took to their Facebook page to share how an elderly customer could only afford an RM2 meal of rice with an egg, after his 2 packs of Nasi Kandar had gotten stolen when he had left them in his motorcycle’s basket just for a couple of minutes.

Food 1 1

They wrote, “2 packs of Nasi Kandar was stolen. Just a little while ago, this man bought 2 packs of Nasi Kandar. He places the packed meals in his motorcycle’s basket and went to buy kuih. And, in just a few minutes of him buying some kuih, he got back to his motorcycle to see that the Nasi Kandar in his basket was gone!”

“He realised that people had stolen it. Pity him, he is just a regular man and he was so disappointed and saddened that his food was stolen by someone.”

The elderly man then returned to the Nasi Kandar restaurant and bought a meal of rice with an egg, which costs only RM2. He couldn’t afford anything more.

Food 2

And despite his hardship of not being able to afford another proper meal, the elderly man also decided to not hold any grudges against the food thief.

“However, the act of stealing food will always have a bad effect. Not everyone can afford to buy food twice at a time.”

“Many people only have enough money to buy one meal at a time. When his food was stolen, it is difficult for him to buy more food. So, please, don’t ever choose to steal,” they added.

It’s so heartbreaking to know that the elderly man was forced to use whatever remaining money he had to pay for another meal.

If you are someone who is hungry, please do not resort to stealing and instead, ask for the kindness of Malaysians who are ever willing to help however we can.
