Google is undoubtedly one of the best things ever invented as it houses all the answers to our daily questions.

The search engine had its very own “Spotify Wrapped” moment recently and they pushed out the “Year in Search 2022“. In a press statement, they said,

“Year in Search is meant to reflect the topics and moments that truly represent a given year.”

Results for 9 categories were posted and the results were not exactly surprising – given our love-hate relationship with politics. Without further ado, let’s dive in.

Top searches

1) Bantuan Khas Malaysia (BKM)
2) MySPR Semak
3) World Cup 2022
4) Keputusan PRU-15
5) MyUndi
6) Wordle
7) Peranti Siswa
8) Anwar Ibrahim
9) Queen Elizabeth
10) Mental Age Test

What can we say, we love it when the government gives us money and our general elections are always a big deal whenever they come around. The most surprising thing on this list is probably Wordle as we thought that it was only a fad, but who knew that it actually got this big?

3) Black Adam
4) Top Gun
5) Jurassic World
6) Doctor Strange

9) Vikram
10) The Batman

Local production Mat Kilau tops the list and it is not all that surprising as it was well-received by a majority of Malaysians. Big films such as Doctor Strange and Thor ranked lower on the same list.

International personalities

1) Amber Heard
2) Johnny Depp
3) Will Smith
4) Kajol
5) Chris Rock
6) Rishi Sunak
7) Andrew Tate
8) Simon Leviev
9) Adam Levine
10) Casemiro

The high-profile, messy court case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce made the two parties the top of the list and it is not all that surprising as the drama surrounding it was juicy.
