One of the more popular attractions in most Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Thailand is feeding wild animals. Yes, the whole riding elephants, petting tigers, that sort of thing. Oh, and feeding stray monkeys, too. But in the case of feeding monkeys, that creates a pretty big problem; the monkeys become dependent on being fed to survive.

Which, if this report from The Sun comes to show, proves that this dependency can be a pretty bad thing. Given the global pandemic of the Covid-19 coronavirus, tourism has dropped in almost all countries as nations begin to enforce travel bans, while closing borders to ensure that the virus doesn’t spread. Needless to say, Thailand, a popular tourist destination, is already feeling the effects of a travel industry downturn.

But its not just the travel industry, as even Thai monkeys are feeling the pinch, because the tourists who usually feed them scraps of food are all gone. Starving and out of options, these wild animals that are dependent on being literally spoonfed did the one thing they knew to do:

They raided a local Thai town in order to find food. Literally hundreds of monkeys are raiding a Thai town to find food!

Scattered across the streets like an angry mob, they were seen scrambling and fighting among one another for a single banana, attacking one another if they find a single monkey that had food on hand.

Passer-bys even said that these monkeys “looked more like wild dogs”.

So what do you guys think of this situation?
