A recent incident has gone viral after a Malaysian actress and radio presenter held a gender reveal with her husband in front of the Ka’aba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, a highly sacred place for Muslims, where strict decorum is expected.

The couple, who are expecting a baby girl, faced backlash after posting the now-deleted video, with netizens expressing their disappointment and criticism over the act.

“I want to speak with humility and provide an explanation…”

The celebrity, Neera Azizi, has since broken her silence, admitting her mistake and offering an explanation regarding the issue.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she didn’t realise her approach could be seen as disrespectful.

“I want to speak with humility and provide an explanation regarding the ‘gender reveal’ issue that has been widely discussed recently.”

“The video was originally meant simply as a sign of gratitude for the blessings given by Allah SWT, with no other intention. This is not to excuse the mistake that occurred. Unintentionally, the method used came across as lacking proper decorum,” she wrote.

“I won’t repeat this mistake”

At the same time, Neera said she accepts all criticism with an open heart and sees it as valuable advice.

She also stressed that the mistake had nothing to do with any travel agency and was entirely her own.

“I truly appreciate the feedback and won’t take it to heart, seeing it as good advice. God willing, I won’t repeat this mistake. I also want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with any travel agency, it’s entirely my own error.

“In the end, I’m just an ordinary human being who isn’t immune to making mistakes. May Allah SWT forgive all of us,” she added.
