Gone are the days when we saw primary school children riding their bikes down the street or swinging from monkey bars at the playground. Kids these days don’t know what it’s like to participate in extracurricular activities or to just simply spend time with their friends during the holidays because many of them are addicted to their mobile phones.
Even babies are exposed to mobile phones when their parents want them to behave during meals, and it’s sad because these little kids become so dependent on technology to be entertained.
A nine-year-old boy from Hefei, China, developed crossed eyes because he was addicted to playing mobile games during his summer vacation.
According to Oriental Daily, his doctor had told him to stop playing with his mobile phone for a short period of time, but the boy said that he just “can’t stop”.
The boy’s father said that when he was not paying attention, his son would often take his mobile phone and play games on it for 10 hours every day. This gradually became a bad habit, and soon, he noticed that his son had started to squint his eyes.
As a result of the boy’s addiction, he became cross-eyed!
The doctor also pointed out that when kids use electronic products at such a young age, it is equivalent to artificially pulling their eyeball, which causes Myopia – nearsightedness. Myopia typically begins at childhood and it occurs when the eyeball is too long, relative to the focusing power of the cornea and lens of the eye.
Hopefully the boy’s condition isn’t so bad that the doctors can’t do anything about it.
