As we grow older, we tend to lose lots of friends along the way. Even more so when we’re approaching old age.
It is truly heartbreaking to watch the elderly who are all alone.
So you can imagine how netizens’ hearts lighted up when pictures of this 94-year-old man and his cute little cat spread all around the internet.
This man served in World War 2. After that had ended, he continued working in the same place for 64 years!
Unfortunately in 2009, the poor man fell ill and had to go in and out of the hospital frequently. Due to this, he developed a massive temper and became terribly sensitive to everything around him. He often sulked too.
Thankfully all that changed when this cute little fuzzball named Kinako trotted into his life.
The granddaughter of the elderly man, Akiko, had secretly adopted a cat and hid it in her room. When the grandpa walked into her room and saw Kinako, it was love at first sight!
The typical grumpy old man who seemed to always have a scowl on his face turned into a happy soul.
Akiko, who’s also a freelance photographer from Tokyo, took these amazing photos.
She said,
“I took these pictures of my granddad with my own camera. I translate his life into the form of photographs where the friendship between Kinako and himself is very prominent.”
True enough, anyone can see the relationship between these two is unlike any other. When there’s such an adorable kitty like that in our lives, who could stay unhappy all day?
“Kinako lifts up Jiji (grandpa) by simply being Kinako. I think friends and families are the same for a human.
“Jiji became stubborn and grumpier after he got sick. But since Kinako, he began to laugh more.” Akiko tells Metro.
She adds, “Kinako and Jiji takes a nap together a lot and they often sleep in a similar pose. It’s really funny and heartwarming looking at them.”
“Grandpa taught me so many things but especially about being Japanese. He greatly influenced me throughout my life, with many things.
“He was the first person who taught me how to make a paper crane (origami) and we made it a lot, like a LOT.
“Because he is one of the most important people to me, seeing him having a happier life again also made me happy.”
