Ah, college life. It’s like the rite of passage that we go through before achieving adulthood. It’s a time where we learn life hacks such as cooking instant noodles with a kettle (because we’re lazy or do not have a proper cooking pot), or the times we lepak at Starbucks just for the free WiFi. Regardless, here’s some of the struggles we always face during our college days.

1. You’re ALWAYS broke

You always have NO MONEY. You’d be balling at the first week of the month but realise you’ve messed up by week 3. Before you know it, you’re left with RM5 in your bank account and the month hasn’t even ended yet! Worse, sometimes you have no money even though you did not spend on anything!

2. You’re always feeling tired. No matter how much sleep you had.

No matter how much sleep you’ve gotten, you’ll always feel tired, which sucks. Even if you have been doing absolutely nothing the whole day. You could sleep from 10pm to 3pm the next day, and still find yourself yawning away and dozing off in class.

3. You pull all-nighters all day err day.

Between balancing your social life and your studies, you can’t help but ask why isn’t there 48 hours in a day? Sure, you can tell yourself “I will not procrastinate. This semester will be different.” But we all know what happens: you pulling endless all-nighters during that time of the semester (when all the deadlines hit).

4. You contemplate on life decisions when you hear your alarm ring.

Getting up in the morning isn’t easy, and you’ll be asking yourself, “Should I go to class or just sleep in?” while you lose track of the amount of times you hit the snooze button on your alarm. You even start questioning life decisions, and the universe as a whole.

5. You try to eat right… but FAST FOOD!

You keep telling yourself you’ll eat healthier each time but ended up dropping by McDonalds, or grabbing a slice of pizza because, fast food. I mean, it’s not like preparing healthy food takes a lot of effort, right?

6. You have a hard time meeting the word count requirement.

You’re THIS close to reaching your minimum word count when doing your assignments, so you start being a little ‘creative’ with your words. Like paraphrasing the same sentence three different times in the paragraph. Problem solved!

7. You buy textbooks that will most likely serve as a paperweight.

When you’re so broke but they still make you buy all these textbooks which will only ever require you to refer to ONCE in the entire semester.

8. You get hooked on a new TV series and binge-watching it.

Deadlines are on the horizon, and guess what? There’s a new episode of the series you’ve been following religiously, and you NEED to know what happen. Or the fact that your friend introduced you to a new series. Twelve hours in and you’re now in Season 3. Thank you, Netflix, really.
