A 25-year-old woman in Johor was scolded by her parents for coming home late, so she lodged a police report for something that had never taken place.

In her report, she accused her e-hailing driver of forcing her to have intercourse with him in the vehicle.

The woman lodged the false police report at 10:27 AM on Monday (24 November), claiming that she was raped and forced into a sex act on Sunday (23 November) at 8:30 PM inside the e-hailing driver’s car around Jalan Pulai Perdana, Kangkar Pulai in Johor.

The police confirmed that there was no sexual assault

Following an investigation, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Johor found out that the false report was lodged after the 25-year-old unemployed woman was scolded by her parents for coming home late.

In an official statement today (25 November), Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan also said that the police have recorded the woman’s statement for further investigation.

According to Kumarasan, lodging a false report is an offence under Section 182 of the Penal Code, and if found guilty, the person may face a prison term of up to 6 months, or be fined up to RM2,000, or both.

In the meantime, Kumarasan also urged the public not to lodge a false report, as it will only redirect the police force and manpower to something bogus, instead of helping the real victims who are involved in crimes that actually took place.
