In a recent tweet by Jamie Yeoh from Malaysia, she shared how her 74-year-old granddad was not very tech savvy and hence did not know how to send a Whatsapp message. However, during her birthday where she just turned 21, the old man actually went out of his way and headed to a phone store just so he could seek their help to wish his beloved granddaughter.
According to Jamie’s message thread with her grandpa, he previously in 2018 had wished her “Happy Birthday” via text – which we reckon he also had help with!
This year, he sent a photo with a handwritten:
“John Yeoh,
Happy birthday
Jamie Yeoh.”

Yes, like us, many had their hearts melted by the grandpa’s gesture. A few others pointed out how her grandpa’s display picture was a “Peppa Pig” as well. How comel!
She shares with WORLD OF BUZZ that her grandpa and her would talk from time to time on the phone as she is currently studying in Subang and her granddad is residing in Penang.
“We are not extremely close but we do talk and he’s a very, very kind man. He has never once forgotten my sister’s or my birthday.”
She added how sweet her grandpa is too as last Christmas, he actually got her and her sister each a coffee mug of their favourite colours. OMG so sweet!
“I was very touched as he actually remembered our favourite colours.
“He’s also a widower. My grandma passed away 20 years ago, until today, he goes to visit her tombstone with flowers and sings to her whenever it’s her birthday.”
Okay, we are dying from sweetness right now!
