This is so horrifying!

According to Coconuts, a 6-year-old boy was left in a coma after he was abandoned in the backseat of his school truck.

The Thai boy, named  Chanachai Kongpol (nicknamed “Gaga”), was reportedly found in the truck unconscious on Monday afternoon (31st July) five hours after his driver picked him up from his home.

Upon discovering the boy, he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Ayutthaya, a province north of Bangkok. The truck driver, who has been driving children to and from school for the past four years, said that he normally inspects the truck after he drops everyone off. However, it was about to rain that day so he decided to go home and rest.

When Gaga was found unconscious and taken to the hospital, he had to be put on a respirator, which was when the driver called his parents to apologise to them. He expressed how guilty he felt for being so negligent.

Sadly, the young boy’s condition remains the same. His brain is reportedly unresponsive due to hours of oxygen deprivation after being stuck in the hot truck for hours.

Doctors have even told his parents that he may not make it, and have already consulted them about donating Gaga’s organs. The young boy’s mother told the press while in tears that she was “hoping for a miracle, but it never came”. She wants her son’s tragedy to be a lesson for everyone to never be negligent.

She expressed that she has no ill will towards the driver, but will be seeking legal action. A day after the young boy was taken to hospital, the driver turned himself in to the police and has now been charged with negligence leading to serious injury of others and driving public transportation without a license.

What a horrible tragedy to befall someone so young. We hope Gaga’s parents can find strength during this unbelievably hard time.
