While many of us are doing our best to remain home and respect the rule of law during this period, there still will be bad apples in every basket. And one such bad apple had to learn his lesson the hard way, when his aggressive actions got him into hot water with the police, according to Sinar Harian and China Press.
The incident, which occurred at a roadblock at Lebuh Alor Gajah-Melaka-Jasin (AMJ)-Malim Jaya, Melaka, happened when members of police opened up an emergency lane for an ambulance responding to an emergency, as the road was encountering a traffic jam at the time.
But instead of just one ambulance making use of the emergency lane, a driver was also caught trying to use the empty section of road to drive past the traffic jam. As a result, the 55-year-old man behind the wheel was stopped by police, and was advised to return to the main road.
Angered, the driver of the car then started cussing at the police, before even going as far as to slap a member of police with so much force, he had to be treated at Hospital Melaka for injuries!
As a result for his offense, the man will be remanded for four days to assist in investigations according to Head of Central Melaka Police, Assistant Commissioner Afzanizar Ahmad, and the case will be investigated under Section 353 for assaulting a public servant, which is punishable by a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both.
Once again, we would like to remind all of you to respect our frontline authorities, especially when considering the amount of effort and time they put into sacrificing to keep us safe during these times!
