In a recent press conference, United States (US) President Donald Trump confirmed that he will be visiting Malaysia for the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Afterwards, Trump will be visiting Japan and South Korea.
Communication Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today (22 October) confirmed that Trump is expected to arrive in Malaysia on Sunday (26 October).

Fadmi said that confirmation of the US President’s presence was announced during the Cabinet Meeting last Friday (17 October), and at the time being, there will be no changes in Trump’s schedule.
“If there are any changes, the Foreign Ministry will inform us,” Fahmi said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
Fahmi, however, did not comment further on the details of the US President’s itinerary to Kuala Lumpur. Trump spoke publicly for the first time about his plans to visit Malaysia on Monday, but the US President also did not elaborate further on his visit.
Notable attendees of the 47th ASEAN Summit
The 47th ASEAN Summit is scheduled for 3 days, commencing on 26 October and will end on 28 October, with the participation of top leaders from the 10 ASEAN member states as well as key dialogue partners, including the US, China, Japan, and India.
In the meantime, civil servants are also allowed to work from home from 21 to 28 October as multiple road diversions around Kuala Lumpur will be conducted. Fahmi also highlighted that road closures will be done in stages.

The ASEAN Summit is the highest policy-making body in ASEAN, comprising the Heads of States or Governments of ASEAN Member States. The ASEAN Summit is held twice annually at a time to be determined by the Chair of the ASEAN Summit in consultation with other ASEAN Member States.
