With over 190 million infections worldwide that resulted with over 4 million deaths, Covid-19 thus far has been one of worst pandemics the world has ever seen. However, despite the virus ravaging the lives and livelihoods of every nation in the world, there are still people who believe the pandemic is just a hoax and worse, putting other people at risk by refusing to get the vaccine.

Well, as reported by Indonesian news portal Kompas, a doctor in Central Lombok, Indonesia has had enough of these Covid-19 deniers. In fact, Dr Yuda Permana, the head of the region’s Covid-19 task force is so fed up with Covid-19 deniers in Central Lombok that he is offering them free ‘travel tours’ to hospitals to see with their own eyes, the horrors that the virus has brought into the region.

During a public discussion yesterday (17 July 2021), Dr Yuda asserted,

“If there is anyone from the public that still doesn’t believe in Covid-19, come. I will bring you for a tour around hospitals and we’ll see all the isolated patients there.”

He further said that all the ‘tourists’ will then be shown all the various conditions that affects a Covid-19 patient from mild symptoms to severe, life-threatening ones. Furthermore, Dr Yuda also said it depends on these Covid-19 deniers whether to wear Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) or not during the tour since they don’t believe in the virus.

However, they must first come to an agreement on whether to wear it or not prior to the tours and not backtrack after witnessing patients fighting for their lives due to Covid-19 in the hospitals.

Dr Yuda added,

“I’ll bring these Covid-19 deniers on a ‘travel tour’. The first day we can see the distressing conditions of the hospitals. On the second or third day we can visit patients who have mild or severe symptoms such as those who need ventilators to breath. Maybe we can even see a patient on the verge of dying.”

The Central Lombok Covid-19 task force head hopes that by doing this, he can educate the public to believe in the dangers of the virus and to adhere with the health protocols set in place to prevent infections.

What do you guys think of Dr Yuda’s initiative? Do you think something similar should be done for the Covid-19 deniers in Malaysia? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
