Kudos to these university students for saving a life!
A TikTok video of a couple of university students saving an abandoned baby has been circulating on multiple social media platforms during the weekend. The video has since garnered more than 3 million views and 170,000 likes.
@nisa_rinaa Selalu dengar dari berita kes buang bayi, harini experience sendiri kes bayi yang dibuang. Sumpah sepanjang dengan baby ni sebak, nangis, sedih, marah, kecewa semua ada. Tolonglah bertanggungjawab for your actions even if it’s a mistake #foryoupage #fypppppp #fyp #fypp
Speaking on the experience, Anis Arina Aqilah, 23, a full-time student, said that the incident occurred on the morning of August 20.
She said that at that time, a friend working part-time nearby called them to ask for their help as she found out a baby was dumped.
Anis and her friends were there in no time and found the baby on a black couch near some trash bins. As they knew the area well, they said it is where stray dogs often frequent.
They looked at the baby girl and realised she was covered in amniotic fluids and blood with her umbilical cord still attached.
The university students described how flies and ants circled the baby, and whose limbs were turning blue.
One of the women, Malani, immediately called 999. 15 minutes later, a policemen reported to the scene and a further 15 minutes saw the arrival of the ambulance.
Medical personnel immediately started ‘hitting’ the baby’s back so she would cry (to ensure that the baby is breathing), and they concluded that she was very weak and dehydrated.
Thankfully, the baby was given proper medical attention and is currently in stable condition now. Many people have expressed their desire to adopt her.
Speaking on this issue, Anis said that the 4 of them are still processing what had happened. In the video captions, she mentioned:
“When we were with the baby, we felt all emotions. We cried, we were angry, we were sad and disappointed.”
Anis added, “People should learn how to take responsibility for their actions even if it may be a mistake.”
These 4 students certainly have a strong sense of justice, and we hope they will continue to do the good work!
